300 mOhm Rds(on) — sizing the load and the thermal budget
The STMicroelectronics VNL5300S5TR-E is a single-channel low-side N-channel power driver from the OMNIFET III and VIPower families. It switches a grounded load up to 2 A continuous with a typical on-resistance of 300 mOhm. The 150 °C junction rating gives headroom for engine-bay or motor-drive environments, but the board layout is what makes that rating real.
Fault protection set — what it saves you on the BOM
That protection suite replaces a handful of discrete comparators and a current-sense resistor. The auto-restart feature means it recovers after a fault without a system reset — useful for a solenoid or lamp load that might draw inrush.
5 V logic compatible — no level shifter needed
Tie the input to a GPIO or a PWM timer — the on/off interface is simple, no external translation required. The status flag output gives a clean low when a fault is active, which can feed an interrupt line or a diagnostic LED.
