The VN5R003HTR-E is a single-channel high-side N-channel power switch from STMicroelectronics' VIPower™ family. Its 3 mOhm typical on-resistance keeps conduction losses low. The load voltage range spans -16 V to 28 V, meaning it can survive reverse-battery connection without an external series diode — a common requirement in automotive body controllers and industrial actuator outputs. The on/off interface is a logic-level input; no external Vcc supply is needed because the gate drive is self-supplied from the load rail. The 1:1 input-to-output ratio means one logic pin controls one load channel — no multiplexing or address decoding.
Package and thermal — what the board needs
The TO-252-7 DPak with 6 leads plus an exposed tab (HPAK) requires a non-standard land pattern — confirm the footprint against the ST application note. The exposed tab requires a solder paste stencil aperture that covers the full tab area to avoid voids under the die.
ROHS3 compliant. No official second-source or cross-reference is published by ST, but the TDE1747FPT is a functionally similar high-side driver with a 1 A output rating and a narrower temperature range (-25°C to 85°C), making it unsuitable as a drop-in replacement for the VN5R003HTR-E's 3 mOhm load capability.
