The VN5E160STR-E is a single N-channel high-side power switch from STMicroelectronics' VIPower™ family, designed for general-purpose switched loads up to 7 A continuous. Input control is a simple On/Off logic pin with non-inverting polarity — no external Vcc supply needed, which simplifies the interface to a GPIO or switch. The 1:1 input-to-output ratio means one control line drives one load channel.

Fault protection suite — current limiting, open load, over-temp, over-voltage

This eliminates external sense resistors, comparators, and TVS diodes for many applications — the BOM saves a handful of passives per channel. The Auto Restart feature means the switch automatically re-tries after an over-temperature fault once the die cools, which is useful for intermittent overloads like lamp inrush or motor stall.
