The VN5E050MJTR-E is a single N-channel high-side power switch from ST's VIPower™ family, built to drive resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads in 12 V and 24 V systems. The 19 A max output rating is a pulsed capability; continuous current is limited by the thermal impedance of the board layout. The switch is controlled by a simple On/Off logic input with non-inverting polarity, so a logic high turns the output on. No external Vcc supply is needed — the gate charge is drawn from the load voltage itself, which simplifies the BOM by one regulator rail.

The load voltage range spans 4.5 V to 28 V, covering both nominal 12 V and 24 V automotive electrical systems. The junction temperature rating of -40°C to 150°C qualifies the part for under-hood and engine-bay environments where ambient temperatures exceed 105°C. A commercial-grade switch with a 85°C limit would not survive here. Built-in fault protections — fixed current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage clamp — allow the switch to survive a shorted load or a load-dump transient without external clamping. The auto-restart feature cycles the output after a thermal fault, so the system recovers automatically once the fault clears.
