The STMicroelectronics VIPER17LN is an offline flyback switching regulator from the VIPer™ plus series, integrating the power MOSFET and control logic in a single 8-DIP through-hole package. It delivers up to 10 W of isolated output power, making it a fit for auxiliary supplies in appliances, industrial controls, and metering equipment where a compact, self-contained switcher is preferred over a discrete MOSFET-plus-controller solution. The internal 800 V MOSFET handles line transients with margin, and the fixed 60 kHz switching frequency simplifies transformer design.

Supply range and startup behaviour

The Vcc supply range spans 8.5 V to 23.5 V, with a startup threshold of 14 V. This wide operating window allows the part to ride through brownout conditions on the bias winding without dropping out, and the 14 V startup ensures the control logic has enough headroom to begin switching cleanly before the auxiliary winding takes over.

The 150°C TJ(max) provides derating headroom when the part is mounted in a warm enclosure without forced airflow.
