Product details

10 W offline switcher with 800 V avalanche-rugged MOSFET

The VIPER16LDTR is an integrated offline switching regulator from the VIPer™ plus family, combining a PWM controller with an 800 V avalanche-rugged power MOSFET in a single 16-SOIC package. It delivers up to 10 W in flyback, buck, or buck-boost topologies, making it a compact choice for auxiliary supplies and appliance power stages. Switching at 60 kHz with a 70% duty cycle ceiling, the part operates from a Vcc supply range of 11.5 V to 23.5 V and includes a 13 V start-up threshold. Fault protection covers current limiting and over-temperature — no external sense resistor needed for cycle-by-cycle current limit.

Multi-topology flexibility for BOM consolidation

Supporting buck, buck-boost, and flyback topologies from the same IC means one line item can serve multiple PSU designs — a 10 W flyback for a smart-meter supply and a 5 W buck for an appliance standby rail, for example. The output isolation is configurable as either isolated or non-isolated, depending on the transformer or inductor choice. The 800 V breakdown voltage gives headroom for universal mains (85–265 VAC) applications without derating the MOSFET.

ROHS3 compliant per.

Frequently asked questions

Does VIPER16LDTR support flyback topology?

Yes, flyback is one of the supported topologies, along with buck and buck-boost. The output can be configured as isolated or non-isolated, depending on the transformer design.

What is the output power rating of VIPER16LDTR?

The device is rated for 10 W continuous output. Actual achievable power depends on the topology, input voltage, ambient temperature, and thermal management of the 16-SOIC package.

What is the closest pin-compatible alternative to VIPER16LDTR in the VIPer™ plus family?

Within the same VIPer™ plus series, the VIPER16HDTR is a higher-power variant (20 W) in the same 16-SOIC package with an 800 V MOSFET. Pin-compatible, but the output power ceiling and some protection thresholds differ — confirm the thermal budget and current limit before substituting.
