8 W offline switcher with 730 V avalanche-rugged MOSFET
The VIPER12ASTR-E integrates a 730 V breakdown power MOSFET and a 60 kHz PWM controller in a single 8-SOIC package, delivering up to 8 W in non-isolated flyback or buck topologies. The 14.5 V start-up threshold and 9 V to 38 V supply range allow direct connection to the rectified mains bus without an auxiliary winding for start-up.
Junction temperature rating and protection set
On-chip fault protection includes current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage clamping — no external sense resistor or OVP comparator needed for basic protection.
