100 W flyback with integrated switch — what the ratings mean
The STMicroelectronics VIPER100SP13TR is a monolithic flyback switching regulator from the VIPER™ series, integrating the power MOSFET and control logic in a single PowerSO-10 package with an exposed bottom pad for thermal management. Rated for 100 W output in isolated topologies, it targets AC-DC converters for industrial power supplies, battery chargers, and auxiliary housekeeping rails where board space is constrained. The 620 V breakdown voltage on the integrated switch covers universal AC input with adequate derating for line transients, while the switching frequency reaches up to 200 kHz.
Control features and fault protection
The device includes enable input, frequency control, and soft-start for controlled turn-on, plus current limiting and over-temperature shutdown for fault protection. Supply voltage range is 8 V to 15 V with an 11 V start-up threshold, typical for auxiliary windings in flyback designs.
