Offline flyback with integrated switch — 100 W, 700 V

The STMicroelectronics VIPER100ASP-E is a high-voltage offline flyback switching regulator from the VIPER™ series, integrating the power MOSFET and control logic in a single PowerSO-10 Exposed Bottom Pad package. It delivers up to 100 W in isolated flyback topologies, with a 700 V breakdown voltage for universal AC input designs.

Switching frequency and control flexibility

Switching frequency is programmable up to 200 kHz, letting the designer balance transformer size against switching losses. Control features include an enable pin (EN), frequency control, and soft start — the soft start limits inrush current during startup, which is critical for avoiding transformer saturation and output overshoot on a cold start.

Protection and supply range

Built-in fault protection covers current limiting and over-temperature shutdown — the over-temperature trip protects the die if the thermal pad is not adequately sinked. The Vcc supply range is 8 V to 15 V, with a startup threshold of 11 V, so the auxiliary winding must deliver at least 8 V once the converter is running.

The PowerSO-10 package with an exposed bottom pad is designed for surface-mount assembly.
