The STMicroelectronics VIPER100-E is a flyback switching regulator from the VIPER™ series, integrating the power switch and control in a single Pentawatt-5 HV surface-mount package with bent and staggered leads. Rated for 100 W output with a 620 V breakdown voltage, it targets isolated offline AC-DC converters in industrial and consumer power supplies up to 200 kHz switching frequency.
Staggered-lead Pentawatt — reflow and placement notes
The Pentawatt-5 HV package uses bent and staggered leads — the offset reduces tombstoning risk during reflow compared to a straight in-line power package. Surface-mount mounting type means it sits flat on the board, but the staggered lead pitch requires a custom footprint; verify the pad geometry against the package drawing before the stencil cut.
For a BOM line that cannot redesign, the surplus channel is the practical path; for new designs, evaluate current ST VIPER parts with similar power and package characteristics.
