Topology flexibility and fault protection set
Rated for buck, buck-boost, and flyback topologies with either isolated or non-isolated output — the 'Either' isolation rating means the same part serves a 5 V USB charger (non-isolated) or a 12 V auxiliary supply with an optocoupler feedback loop. On-chip fault protection covers current limiting, over-temperature, over-voltage, and short-circuit — the thermal shutdown threshold is set above the 150 °C junction maximum, so the die protects itself before the winding insulation sees excessive temperature. The 4.5 V to 30 V supply range on Vcc lets the IC run directly from an auxiliary winding after start-up, and the 8 V start-up threshold ensures the bulk capacitor charges high enough before the first switching cycle begins.
