Rail-to-rail steering TVS for automotive Ethernet ports
The STMicroelectronics USBLC6-4SC6Y is a rail-to-rail steering TVS diode array in the USBY series, designed to protect four unidirectional data lines from ESD and surge events. It is AEC-Q101 qualified for automotive applications and targets Ethernet PHY interfaces where low clamping voltage and fast response are critical.
With a reverse standoff voltage of 5.25 V typical, the USBLC6-4SC6Y sits above the 3.3 V supply rail common on automotive Ethernet PHYs, so it does not clip normal signal levels. Breakdown starts at 6 V minimum, and clamping is held to 17 V maximum at the peak pulse current of 5 A (8/20 µs waveform). That 17 V ceiling keeps the downstream transceiver within its absolute-maximum input rating during a coupled surge.
Automotive temperature range and qualification
The six-pin layout routes the four protected channels between the supply and ground rails — the centre pins are typically the common rail connections.
