The STMicroelectronics TYN612MRG is a standard-recovery SCR rated for 12 A RMS on-state current (8 A average) with a 600 V off-state blocking voltage, housed in a through-hole TO-220-3 package.
Surge current and fuse coordination
Non-repetitive surge current is rated 125 A at 60 Hz (120 A at 50 Hz) — this sets the fuse let-through energy (I²t) the SCR must survive during a short-circuit event or capacitive inrush. The 20 mA maximum holding current means the SCR will stay latched once triggered as long as the load current stays above that threshold; below 20 mA the device turns off naturally at the next zero-crossing.
