Quad JFET op-amp in 14-SOIC — the BOM-fit anchor

The STMicroelectronics TL074IDT is a quad JFET-input operational amplifier in a 14-SOIC package. It delivers four amplifiers in one 3.90 mm-wide body, saving board area compared to four single-channel parts or two duals. The JFET input stage gives it a 20 pA typical input bias current, which matters when the source impedance is high — photodiode transimpedance stages, piezoelectric sensors, or precision integrators where bipolar input current would dominate the error budget.

For a ±15 V supply, the full output swing slews in about 2.3 µs — fast enough for audio-band processing, active filters up to several hundred kHz, and general-purpose signal conditioning. The 40 mA per-channel output current drives a 600 Ω load to within a couple of volts of the rails without clipping.

Industrial temperature grade — the 'I' matters

That is the key difference from the commercial-grade TL074CN (0°C to 70°C). If the BOM calls for TL074CN but the board lives in an outdoor cabinet, a motor-drive enclosure, or an engine bay, the TL074IDT is the drop-in thermal upgrade — same pinout, same 14-SOIC footprint as the DIP-14 of the CN variant (the IDT is surface-mount only).

Is TL074IDT a direct replacement for TL074CN?

If your board uses the DIP-14 footprint, the IDT will not fit without an adapter. If your design already uses the SOIC-14 footprint, the IDT is the drop-in upgrade for extended temperature.
