The TL074CN uses a JFET input stage, which gives it a 30 pA typical input bias current — orders of magnitude lower than a general-purpose bipolar op-amp. For a high-impedance sensor front-end (a photodiode transimpedance amp or a pH probe buffer), that bias current does not load the source or create a DC offset that drifts with temperature. Four circuits in a single 14-DIP package means each channel costs you about 0.35 mA from the 1.4 mA supply total — efficient for multi-stage filters or quad integrators where board space is tight but through-hole assembly is the process.

Slew rate and bandwidth — where the TL074CN stops tracking

The 13 V/µs slew rate sets the large-signal bandwidth: a 10 V peak-to-peak output swing starts slewing above about 200 kHz. Below that amplitude the 3 MHz gain-bandwidth product governs the small-signal response, so the part is comfortable in audio-band active filters or 100 kHz data-acquisition buffers but not in video or high-speed ADC drivers. Input offset voltage is 3 mV typical — not laser-trimmed, but adequate for DC-coupled stages where the offset can be nulled or tolerated. The 40 mA output per channel drives a 600 Ω load to within a couple of volts of the rails.
