Snubberless™ alternistor for inductive-load switching
The STMicroelectronics T835T-6I is an 8 A RMS, 600 V off-state Snubberless™ alternistor triac in a TO-220 through-hole package. It is designed for AC load switching where the load is inductive — motors, solenoids, transformers, fans — and where eliminating the external RC snubber network saves board space and BOM cost. The Snubberless™ construction gives the triac a high dV/dt immunity without a snubber, so it can commutate inductive loads reliably at the zero-cross. The single-triac configuration, 35 mA maximum gate trigger current, and 40 mA hold current are typical for medium-current phase-control and on/off applications in industrial and appliance power stages.
The TO-220 through-hole package is a standard power package that mounts to a heatsink via the metal tab; the tab is electrically common with MT2 (the main terminal), so an insulating washer and thermal compound are needed if the heatsink is grounded. The through-hole leads suit wave-solder assembly and field replacement.
The base product number T835 covers the 8 A, 600 V family; the -6I suffix indicates the TO-220 insulated (full-mold) package variant.
