Product details

600 V off-state, 8 A RMS — snubberless AC switching

The T835-600H is an 8 A RMS, 600 V off-state Snubberless™ Alternistor triac from STMicroelectronics, housed in a TO-251 (IPAK) through-hole package. The Snubberless™ construction means the device does not require an external RC snubber network when switching inductive loads like motors, solenoids, or transformers — a direct BOM simplification. Gate trigger current is 35 mA maximum, with a 1.3 V gate trigger threshold, compatible with standard logic-level drive from a microcontroller or optocoupler. The 35 mA holding current ensures the triac stays latched once triggered, even with low load currents near the zero-cross.

Thermal and surge handling in the IPAK package

Non-repetitive surge current is rated 80 A at 50 Hz and 84 A at 60 Hz, giving headroom for inrush from incandescent lamp banks or capacitive input supplies. The surge rating is a single-cycle event; repetitive overcurrents must be kept within the I²t limit of the device.

Frequently asked questions

Is the T835-600H a snubberless triac?

Yes — it is a Snubberless™ Alternistor triac, meaning it does not need an external RC snubber for inductive load switching.
