30 A alternistor triac for inductive load switching
The T3035H-6G-TR is a 30 A RMS alternistor triac from STMicroelectronics' Snubberless™ series, rated for 600 V off-state blocking. It switches AC loads like motors, transformers, and solenoids without requiring an external snubber network — the device's internal structure handles dV/dt commutation, simplifying the BOM and board layout. Rated for 270 A (50 Hz) and 284 A (60 Hz) non-repetitive surge current, this triac can handle the inrush from a motor start or a capacitive load without failing — a key parameter for selecting the right device for a given load type.
Surface-mount D2PAK package and thermal integration
Housed in a D2PAK (TO-263AB) surface-mount package, the T3035H-6G-TR reflows onto a PCB with the exposed tab acting as the main thermal path. The tab is the collector/MT2 terminal — the PCB copper area under the tab sets the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance, so the layout must allocate enough copper for the 30 A continuous current and the 150°C max junction temperature. The gate trigger is specified at 35 mA max and 1 V max, with a 60 mA max holding current — compatible with standard logic-level or microcontroller-driven gate drive circuits without additional amplification.
The device is ROHS3 compliant, suitable for new designs requiring lead-free assembly.
Sourcing and availability
Available in tape-and-reel packaging (Cut Tape also offered), the T3035H-6G-TR is sourced through independent distribution channels.
