Product details

Snubberless alternistor for inductive-load switching

The STMicroelectronics T1635-600G-TR is a 600 V, 16 A RMS Snubberless alternistor triac in a D2PAK surface-mount package. It is designed for AC load switching where inductive kickback would otherwise require an external RC snubber. The Snubberless construction handles high dV/dt commutation without that network, saving two passives and a board trace. The 35 mA maximum gate trigger current (Igt) and 1.3 V Vgt mean a standard logic-level driver or optotriac can fire it directly. Holding current is also 35 mA, so the load must draw at least that to keep the triac latched — relevant for low-wattage fans or small transformers that may drop below that threshold during a brownout.

D2PAK (TO-263-3) footprint.

Active status with ROHS3 compliance. Snubberless series from ST. For a lower-current variant in the same family, the T1235-600G is a 12 A alternistor with the same 600 V rating and Snubberless construction. It shares the same D2PAK footprint and gate-drive requirements, making it a drop-in for lighter loads without requalifying the PCB layout.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between T1635-600G-TR and T1635-600?

The T1635-600G-TR is the Tape & Reel (SMT) variant of the same die in a D2PAK package. The T1635-600 (without TR) is typically supplied in tube or bulk for through-hole or hand-assembly. Electrically they are identical.

What is the max gate trigger current of T1635-600G-TR?

The maximum gate trigger current (Igt) is 35 mA, and the maximum gate trigger voltage (Vgt) is 1.3 V. These levels are compatible with standard optotriac drivers and logic-level gate drive circuits.

Is T1635-600G-TR a surface mount device?

Yes, the T1635-600G-TR is a surface-mount device in a D2PAK (TO-263-3) package. It is supplied on Tape & Reel for automated assembly.

What is the closest functional second-source to T1635-600G-TR?

Within the same ST Snubberless family, the T1235-600G is a 12 A alternistor with the same 600 V rating, Snubberless construction, and D2PAK package. It is a functional drop-in for lower-current applications. For a through-hole alternative, the BTA06-600SRG is a 6 A sensitive-gate triac but requires an external snubber for inductive loads.
