Standalone USB Type-C controller with I²C
The STUSB4500LBJR: This is a standalone USB Type-C port controller that handles the CC (configuration channel) negotiation and power delivery policy without requiring an external MCU. It communicates over an I²C interface and is compliant with USB 2.0 standards. The supply voltage range of 3 V to 22 V covers both 5 V USB bus power and higher-voltage PD sources, while the 210 µA typical supply current keeps the quiescent load low in battery-powered or always-on designs.
WLCSP package — rework and board-fit
The 25-WLCSP (2.59 x 2.59 mm) is a wafer-level chip-scale package with solder balls on the bottom. The small footprint saves board space but requires careful reflow profiling — the package has no exposed thermal pad, so heat transfer is through the solder joints alone. A hot-air rework station with a fine nozzle can lift and replace it, but the board must be pre-baked per J-STD-033 if the parts have been exposed to moisture.
RoHS3 compliance — no regulatory blocker
Listed as ROHS3 Compliant, meaning it meets the EU RoHS directive (2011/65/EU) including the updated exemption list.
