75 A, 1200 V fast recovery diode with 55 ns trr
The STMicroelectronics STTH75S12W is a 75 A, 1200 V fast-recovery epitaxial diode in a DO-247 through-hole package. Its 55 ns reverse recovery time (trr) targets high-frequency rectification in motor drives, welding inverters, and power-factor-correction stages where switching losses dominate the thermal budget.
Switching loss and thermal headroom
The 55 ns trr is specified under standard test conditions — at 75 A forward current and high di/dt — which means the stored charge clears fast enough for hard-switched topologies running above 20 kHz. Pair this with the 3.2 V forward drop at 75 A; the conduction loss is about 240 W at full rated current, so the junction temperature stays within the -40°C to 175°C range only with adequate heatsinking. Reverse leakage is 50 µA at 1200 V blocking, which keeps standby losses negligible even on high-voltage rails.

DO-247 package — through-hole power layout
The DO-247-2 package with straight leads is a standard through-hole footprint for high-current rectifiers. The large copper tab on the cathode side must be soldered to a sufficient PCB copper area or bolted to a heatsink to manage the thermal dissipation at 75 A average current.
