400 V, 60 A fast recovery diode in TO-247-3
The STMicroelectronics STTH61W04SW is a 400 V, 60 A fast recovery epitaxial diode in a through-hole TO-247-3 package. Its 55 ns reverse recovery time (trr) suits hard-switched power conversion stages.
Switching speed and thermal headroom
The 55 ns trr at 400 V reverse voltage and 60 A forward current keeps the reverse recovery charge low, which directly reduces turn-off losses in a hard-switched bridge leg. Forward voltage is 1.35 V maximum at 60 A, 25°C. At a 60 A average current the conduction loss is roughly 81 W per device; paired with the 175°C Tj max, the designer can push the junction closer to the limit before the thermal runaway risk appears, but the heatsink must still be sized for the total dissipation.
The TO-247-3 through-hole package (supplier device package TO-247) is a standard three-lead power package with a large copper tab for heatsink mounting. The through-hole leads handle the 60 A current without additional bus bars in most layouts, and the isolated tab simplifies the heatsink interface — no insulating pad needed if the heatsink is grounded.
