600 V, 60 A, 105 ns — the PFC and boost-stage workhorse
The STTH60L06W is a 600 V, 60 A fast recovery epitaxial diode from STMicroelectronics, built for continuous-current PFC, boost, and output rectification stages where recovery speed dictates the switching loss budget. Its 105 ns reverse recovery time (trr) at 60 A forward current keeps the reverse-recovery charge low enough to pair with IGBTs and fast MOSFETs in hard-switched converters up to the 50–100 kHz range. Rated junction temperature tops out at 175 °C, so the die handles the thermal cycling of a 60 A average load in a sealed PFC module without derating prematurely.
DO-247-2 — through-hole, field-swappable
The DO-247-2 (straight leads) package is a through-hole, two-lead power package with a large copper tab for bolting to a heatsink or chassis — no hot-air station needed for replacement. The through-hole mounting means the part can be swapped on site with a soldering iron and a screwdriver; orientation is unambiguous because the cathode tab is the larger pad. Forward voltage is 1.55 V max at 60 A, so at full load the conduction loss is about 93 W — plan the heatsink for that dissipation at the 175 °C junction ceiling.
