Fast recovery diode pair for hard-switched power stages
27 ns trr — switching-loss anchor
At 27 ns trr, this diode recovers fast enough to keep reverse-recovery charge low in hard-switched topologies. In a 100 kHz boost PFC, the recovery loss scales with trr and the forward current; the 27 ns figure means the diode contributes less than a standard 200 ns rectifier would to the MOSFET turn-on loss. The forward voltage drop is 1.05 V maximum at 30 A per diode, which sets the conduction loss floor. At full load, each diode dissipates roughly 31.5 W; the TO-247-3 case with its large copper tab can sink that into a heatsink, but the thermal resistance from junction to case must be factored into the heatsink selection.
175°C junction — thermal headroom in tight enclosures
Rated for a maximum junction temperature of 175°C, the STTH6002CW provides margin above the 150°C typical of many fast diodes. In a forced-air or high-ambient environment (85°C ambient), the allowable temperature rise is 90°C, which relaxes the heatsink volume requirement compared to a 150°C-rated part.
