5 A, 600 V, 95 ns trr — the switching diode for PFC and flyback catch diodes
The STTH5L06RL is a 600 V, 5 A fast recovery epitaxial diode from the STTH5 family, built for continuous-conduction-mode PFC boost stages and flyback output catch diodes where reverse recovery charge directly drives switching loss. Its 95 ns typical trr at rated current keeps the recovery peak below what a 100 kHz hard-switched converter can tolerate without excessive EMI or device heating. Rated for a 175°C maximum junction temperature, this diode can run at full 5 A average rectified current in a confined enclosure without the derating penalty that 150°C-rated parts impose above 100°C case temperature. Forward drop is 1.3 V max at 5 A, and reverse leakage is only 5 µA at the full 600 V blocking voltage — a conduction-versus-blocking trade-off that suits line-rectified DC links and boost converters with moderate switching frequencies.
DO-201AD axial lead — through-hole with tape-and-reel for auto-insertion
The DO-201AD (R-6) axial-lead package is a through-hole form factor that handles the 5 A continuous current with a copper-lead frame rated for the full 175°C junction temperature. The STTH5L06RL variant ships on tape and reel (also available as cut tape), which means it feeds directly into axial-lead insertion machines for high-volume boards — no hand-loading step. The same die is available in tube format as the STTH5L06D and in isolated TO-220FP as the STTH5L06FP, so a design can migrate between through-hole and surface-mount (DPAK as STTH5L06B-TR) without requalifying the silicon.
