1200 V, 5 A fast recovery diode in DPAK
The 1200 V reverse voltage rating places it in the high-voltage class for PFC boost stages, flyback snubbers, and DC-link freewheeling in industrial power supplies up to several hundred watts. The 5 A average forward current, combined with a 2.2 V forward drop at rated current, means conduction losses of roughly 11 W at full load — the DPAK tab must be soldered to a sufficient copper area to keep the junction below the 175°C maximum.
95 ns trr — switching loss and EMI
The 95 ns reverse recovery time (trr) is the defining switching parameter. In continuous-conduction-mode PFC, a faster trr reduces the turn-off current spike and the associated EMI signature. Compared to standard recovery diodes (trr > 500 ns), this part allows higher switching frequencies without excessive dissipation in the diode itself. Reverse leakage is specified at 5 µA at 1200 V, which is low enough to avoid significant off-state losses at high bus voltages.
