Its 50 ns reverse recovery time places it in the fast-recovery class for hard-switching topologies like PFC boost stages, flyback clamps, and output rectification in telecom and industrial power supplies.
Switching loss and thermal budget
The 50 ns trr at 600 V reverse voltage is the controlling parameter for turn-off losses in continuous-conduction-mode PFC. At a 100 kHz switching frequency, each turn-off event dissipates roughly Vr × Ir × trr/2 — the 50 ns window keeps the loss per cycle under 75 µJ at rated current, which means the DPAK copper pad on a standard 1 oz pour can handle the thermal load without forced air. Forward voltage is 1.85 V max at 5 A and 25 °C junction. Conduction loss at full rated current is 9.25 W, but the actual junction temperature will settle higher — the 175 °C max junction rating gives headroom for the Vf positive temperature coefficient to balance the thermal loop.
Reverse leakage at high line
Reverse leakage is 5 µA at 600 V, 25 °C. Leakage doubles roughly every 10 °C junction rise, so at 125 °C expect about 80 µA — still negligible for most 5 A designs, but worth checking if the diode sits across a high-impedance node in a no-load standby rail.
