The STMicroelectronics STTH4R02 is a 200 V, 4 A fast-recovery epitaxial diode in a through-hole DO-201AB axial package. Its 30 ns reverse recovery time (trr) places it squarely in the ultrafast class, suited for continuous-current-mode (CCM) power-factor-correction boost stages, secondary-side rectification in 100 W–300 W switch-mode supplies, and freewheeling diodes in motor-drive snubbers where recovery speed directly impacts switching loss and EMI.
The 30 ns reverse recovery time is the defining parameter. In a 100 kHz PFC boost stage, that trr keeps the reverse-recovery charge low enough that the MOSFET turn-on losses stay manageable without resorting to SiC. Compare this to a standard recovery diode in the same voltage class — the STTH4R02 cuts the recovery loss by roughly an order of magnitude. The 1.05 V forward drop at 4 A is a reasonable trade-off: you get the speed without the 1.5 V+ Vf of some older ultrafast parts.
Package and mounting — axial lead, no surprises
The DO-201AB axial package is a standard through-hole form factor. Lead spacing and body diameter match the common DO-201 footprint used in PFC boost and output rectifier positions.
