Active 3 A fast-recovery diode — 30 ns trr in a DO-201AD axial package
The STTH3R02RL is a 200 V, 3 A fast-recovery rectifier from STMicroelectronics, in a through-hole DO-201AD axial package. The forward drop is 1 V at the full 3 A rated current, so conduction loss at rated load is 3 W — a figure the DO-201AD body can dissipate with adequate lead-length cooling. The 175°C maximum junction temperature gives thermal margin in enclosed or high-ambient designs.
Reverse leakage and blocking — what 3 µA at 200 V means
Reverse leakage is specified at 3 µA when the diode blocks 200 V. This is a room-temperature figure; leakage doubles roughly every 10°C junction rise, so at 125°C junction the leakage sits around 48 µA — still low enough not to upset the bias in a typical 10 kΩ snubber network or bootstrap supply. The 200 V DC reverse rating covers nominal 48 V and 72 V bus rails with derating margin, and the 30 ns trr ensures the diode exits conduction before the complementary switch turns on, minimising cross-conduction losses in half-bridge topologies.
For a BOM that already uses the through-hole DO-201AD footprint, this part is a direct drop-in. The surface-mount sibling STTH3R02S shares the same die and parametric profile but in a different package — not a board-level substitute without a layout change.
