The STTH3R02 is a 200 V, 3 A fast recovery rectifier from STMicroelectronics, built for the continuous-duty boost and flyback catch-diode positions where a standard recovery part would burn the junction. The 30 ns reverse recovery time is the headline: it is fast enough to keep switching losses manageable at 100 kHz in a PFC stage, but not so aggressive that it rings or snap-commutates like an ultrafast silicon carbide part. That middle ground makes it a practical swap-in for older 200 V fast-recovery designs that used slower 100–200 ns parts — the 30 ns trr buys efficiency without forcing a gate-drive re-tune.
3 A continuous in a DO-201AD — thermal reality
Rated for 3 A average rectified current in the DO-201AD axial package. That is a continuous rating, not a surge — the junction temperature maxes out at 175°C, so the lead length and any heatsinking on the anode/cathode bands determine whether you actually get 3 A out of it in your board. In a through-hole layout with 10 mm leads and no forced air, derate it. The forward voltage drop is 1 V at 3 A, which puts conduction loss at 3 W — that heat has to go somewhere. The 3 µA reverse leakage at 200 V is tight enough for offline supplies.
