600 V 3 A fast recovery diode in DO-201AD axial package
The STTH3L06 is a 600 V, 3 A general-purpose fast recovery diode in a DO-201AD axial-lead package. The 85 ns reverse recovery time (trr) and 1.3 V forward drop at rated current place it in the standard-recovery class for line-frequency and moderate-speed switching applications.
Forward drop and recovery speed trade-off
At 3 A forward current the typical forward voltage is 1.3 V, which sets the conduction loss at roughly 3.9 W. The 85 ns trr is fast enough for 50/60 Hz rectification and boost stages in power-factor-correction circuits operating below 100 kHz, but the recovery charge is higher than an ultrafast diode — the designer should check the switching loss contribution at the target frequency. Reverse leakage is 3 µA at the full 600 V blocking voltage, and the junction temperature rating extends to 175°C. The leakage doubles with temperature, so at 125°C junction the quiescent loss is still under 1 mW — negligible in most power supplies.
DO-201AD axial package and board mounting
The DO-201AD (also known as R-6) axial-lead package is a through-hole form factor with a 0.052-inch diameter lead. It requires a 0.040-inch hole in the PCB for each lead; the body is typically 0.375 inches long. The cathode band is marked on the body. For 3 A continuous duty, a minimum 0.5-inch lead length or a heatsink clip is recommended to keep the lead temperature within the solder-joint rating.
Active production and compliance status
STMicroelectronics lists the STTH3L06 as an active product with ROHS3 compliance. No end-of-life notification or successor has been issued. The base product number STTH3 covers the family; the L06 suffix indicates the 600 V variant with the standard recovery speed.
