35 ns recovery — the switching-loss ceiling
The STTH3BCF060U is a 600 V, 3 A standard recovery diode from STMicroelectronics, built for hard-switching topologies where recovery charge drives the loss budget. Its 35 ns reverse recovery time (trr) at 3 A puts it in the fast-recovery class — fast enough for continuous-conduction-mode PFC boost stages and secondary-side rectification in flyback converters.
Forward drop and thermal margin
Forward voltage is 1.7 V maximum at 3 A, 25 °C junction — this is the conduction-loss floor. The junction rating goes to 175 °C max, which gives headroom for the self-heating from both conduction and switching losses in a compact SMB package. At 600 V reverse, leakage is only 3 µA typical, so the off-state dissipation stays negligible even at elevated temperature.
Housed in a DO-214AA (SMB) surface-mount package, the STTH3BCF060U mates with the standard SMB footprint — the same land pattern used by SS34 Schottky diodes and many 1 A to 3 A rectifiers. A 1-inch-square pad on a 2 oz copper board keeps the junction below 125 °C at full load.
ROHS3 compliant.
