Fast recovery diode for automotive and industrial power stages
The STMicroelectronics STTH310UFY is a 1000 V, 3 A fast recovery diode in the SMBflat (DO-221AA) package, qualified to AEC-Q101 for automotive applications. Its 75 ns reverse recovery time suits it for continuous-conduction-mode PFC boost stages, output rectification in DC-DC converters, and snubber clamping where switching losses matter.
The 75 ns trr at rated conditions keeps reverse-recovery charge low, which directly reduces turn-off losses in hard-switched topologies. In a 100 kHz PFC stage, the recovery charge difference between a 75 ns and a 250 ns diode can shift the thermal budget by several watts at 3 A. The fast recovery classification (≤ 500 ns, > 200 mA) confirms this part is optimised for the high-frequency end of the line-frequency rectifier spectrum.
AEC-Q101 and 175 °C junction — automotive thermal budget
AEC-Q101 qualification gates this diode into under-hood and transmission-mounted electronics where the ambient can exceed 105 °C. The SMBflat package with flat leads reduces the solder-joint stress from thermal cycling compared to a gull-wing SMB.
