Dual fast-recovery rectifier in a TO-247 tab
The 25 ns reverse recovery time (trr) puts it in the ultrafast class, suited for switching power supplies and motor-drive freewheeling diodes where recovery losses dominate the thermal budget.
25 ns trr — the switching-loss ceiling
A 25 ns trr at 15 A means the diode clears stored charge quickly enough to keep switching losses manageable at frequencies above 50 kHz. In a 100 kHz PFC boost stage, the recovery loss per diode stays under a few watts, which is what lets the TO-247 package handle the combined conduction and switching dissipation without oversizing the heatsink.
15 A per diode, common-cathode pair
The common-cathode configuration gives you two diodes sharing the same cathode tab, so the TO-247-3 package delivers 30 A total in a single footprint. The 1.2 V forward voltage at 15 A means 18 W per diode at full load — the metal tab and a properly sized heatsink are non-negotiable for continuous operation.
