What this 600 V, 30 A fast recovery diode does in a PFC stage
The STTH30RQ06G2-TR is a 600 V, 30 A fast recovery epitaxial diode from ST's STTH30 series, in a D2PAK HV surface-mount package. Its 55 ns reverse recovery time and 2.95 V forward drop at 30 A make it a fit for hard-switched boost PFC stages, output rectification in 400 V bus converters, and freewheeling paths where switching loss matters. The 175 °C junction rating gives thermal headroom in confined power-supply layouts. The ECOPACK2 designation means the part is RoHS compliant and halogen-free per ST's current materials declaration.
The 55 ns reverse recovery time is the key switching-speed spec. In a continuous-conduction-mode PFC at 100 kHz, that trr keeps the recovery charge low enough that the MOSFET's turn-on loss stays manageable without resorting to SiC. The fast recovery is specified at the full 30 A forward current and 600 V reverse voltage, not a light-load condition — so the datasheet number applies where the thermal design matters most. The 40 µA leakage at 600 V is a check for high-line standby loss, but at 30 A the conduction drop dominates.
Active production, no last-time-buy risk
For a BOM line going into production, this means no forced redesign from a discontinuation.
