600 V, 30 A fast recovery for automotive power stages
The STTH30L06WY is an STMicroelectronics automotive-grade fast recovery diode rated at 600 V reverse voltage and 30 A average forward current, housed in a DO-247 through-hole package. Its 90 ns reverse recovery time makes it a fit for continuous-current-mode boost PFC stages, output rectification in DC-DC converters, and freewheeling diodes in inverter legs where switching losses matter.
The 90 ns typical reverse recovery time reduces turn-off loss compared to a standard 500 ns recovery part at 30 A. The 1.55 V forward drop at 30 A is the conduction loss trade-off.
AEC-Q101 and 175 °C junction — where it lives
AEC-Q101 qualification and a -40 °C to 175 °C operating junction temperature range put this diode in the under-hood and transmission-electronics tier. The 175 °C Tjmax gives headroom for continuous 30 A conduction in a 105 °C ambient under-hood environment, provided the thermal path to the heatsink is designed for the junction-to-case thermal impedance. The 25 µA reverse leakage at 600 V rated voltage is a room-temperature figure; expect it to rise with junction temperature, so budget for leakage power in the thermal calculation at high line and high temperature.
DO-247 through-hole — mounting and thermal interface
The DO-247 package with straight leads is a standard high-current through-hole format. The tab is the cathode and the thermal interface — it needs a flat heatsink surface and thermal compound or a pad.
