1000 V, 30 A fast recovery diode in TO-220AC
The STTH3010D from STMicroelectronics is a standard fast-recovery rectifier rated for 1000 V reverse voltage and 30 A average forward current, housed in a TO-220AC through-hole package. Its 100 ns reverse recovery time (trr) makes it suitable for high-frequency switching applications such as power-factor-correction boost stages, output rectification in switched-mode power supplies, and snubber circuits where recovery losses matter.
Switching speed and forward drop
With a trr of 100 ns, this diode recovers fast enough to keep switching losses manageable in circuits running at tens to low hundreds of kilohertz. The forward voltage is specified at 2 V maximum when carrying 30 A, which sets the conduction loss budget for thermal design. Reverse leakage is 15 µA at the 1000 V blocking voltage, a typical figure for a high-voltage fast-recovery part.
The junction temperature rating goes to 175 °C maximum, giving headroom for high-current operation when the tab is properly heatsunk. The base product number is STTH3010; the D suffix indicates the TO-220AC variant.
