Each of the two dice in the TO-220-3 package is rated 15 A average with a maximum forward voltage of 1.05 V at that current. The common-cathode configuration means the two anodes are separate pins (pins 1 and 3), the cathode is the centre pin and the metal tab. In a continuous 15 A per-diode load the total dissipation reaches 31.5 W; the TO-220 junction-to-case thermal resistance (not listed here) typically runs 1–2 °C/W, so a heatsink is mandatory above a few amps per die.
