22 ns trr — the spec that defines the switching application
The STTH3002CR is a fast recovery diode from STMicroelectronics, configured as a 1 Pair Common Cathode in a TO-262-3 (I2PAK) through-hole package. Its 22 ns reverse recovery time places it in the high-frequency switching domain.
175°C junction — the thermal budget for a cramped heatsink
Rated for a maximum junction temperature of 175°C, this diode gives the thermal designer headroom in a confined enclosure. The TO-262 metal tab needs a heatsink — the package is designed for it — and the 20 µA reverse leakage at 200 V rated voltage is specified at 25°C; expect that leakage to multiply as the junction approaches the 175°C ceiling, so derate the reverse voltage if the ambient runs hot. The 200 V DC reverse rating covers 170 V PFC rails with margin for ringing.
STMicroelectronics lists the STTH3002CR as Obsolete. The dual-diode common-cathode topology in a TO-262 package is less common than single-die TO-220s, so stock can be intermittent.
