Fast recovery at 50 ns — the switching-speed decision
The STTH2R06RL is a 600 V, 2 A standard fast-recovery diode from STMicroelectronics, built for circuits where the reverse recovery time must stay under 500 ns at forward currents above 200 mA. Its 50 ns trr puts it in the class of ultrafast rectifiers suitable for 100 kHz+ switching in PFC boost stages, flyback snubbers, and output rectification in medium-power AC-DC converters. The 1.7 V forward drop at 2 A is higher than a standard 1N4007 (about 1.1 V), but that is the trade-off for the speed — the faster recovery cuts switching losses in the MOSFET or IGBT it pairs with. The 2 µA reverse leakage at 600 V is tight enough to keep standby losses low in a lightly loaded supply.

The DO-41 axial package (DO-204AL) is a through-hole leaded form — it needs a hole in the board but lets you heatsink the body with a clip or solder to a copper pour on the PCB.
