50 ns reverse recovery — the switching-loss lever
The STTH2R06 is a 600 V, 2 A fast-recovery rectifier from STMicroelectronics, built with standard planar technology and housed in a DO-41 axial package. Its 50 ns reverse recovery time is the parameter that defines its role: it cuts the switching-loss overlap in hard-switched topologies — PFC boost stages, flyback output rectifiers, and freewheeling diodes in motor drives — where a slow diode would burn the efficiency budget.
600 V blocking, 2 A forward — where it fits
With a 600 V reverse voltage rating and 2 A average rectified current, the STTH2R06 comfortably blocks on a 400 VDC bus with margin for transients, and handles the forward current of a 100 W-class offline supply's output rectifier. The 1.7 V forward drop at 2 A means 3.4 W peak dissipation — the DO-41 body relies on lead-length conduction to the PCB copper to pull the heat out; a short lead bend and a generous pad island below the anode-cathode loop keep the junction within its -40°C to 175°C range.
No NRND flag, no last-time-buy date to track. The DO-41 axial package is a mature, widely stocked form factor; the part also ships in Cut Tape and Tape & Box for automated insertion.
