30 ns trr — fast recovery for 200 V 2 A rectification
The STTH2R02U is a 200 V, 2 A fast recovery rectifier from STMicroelectronics, built for switched-mode power supply output stages, PFC boost diodes, and flyback snubbers where reverse recovery time dictates switching loss.
Forward drop and thermal budget in SMB
At 2 A forward current the maximum forward voltage is 1 V, giving a conduction loss of 2 W at full rated current. The DO-214AA (SMB) package dissipates that through the copper pad on the PCB — the junction is rated to 175 °C, so a 2 W dissipation at 25 °C ambient requires a thermal resistance below 75 °C/W from junction to ambient. That means a generous cathode pad area and, for sustained high-current operation, a double-sided board with thermal vias.
Reverse leakage and blocking voltage margin
Maximum reverse leakage is 3 µA at the rated 200 V reverse voltage. For a 48 V bus rail the margin is 4×, so leakage stays below 1 µA at operating voltage — negligible for the bias budget. The 200 V rating also covers 100 V and 120 V bus rails with comfortable headroom.
The base product number is STTH2, which covers the whole family; the 'U' suffix indicates the SMB package variant.
