30 ns reverse recovery — why it matters for the switching loop
The STTH1R02RL is a fast recovery rectifier diode from STMicroelectronics, rated 200 V reverse voltage and 1.5 A average forward current, with a reverse recovery time of 30 ns. This trr places it in the fast-recovery class (≤500 ns, >200 mA Io), making it suitable for high-frequency rectification in power supplies, PFC stages, and snubber circuits where switching losses and reverse-recovery current must be minimised.
Parametric fit for the BOM line
The 1.5 A average rectified current at 1 V forward drop (max) sets the conduction loss budget — at full load the forward dissipation is 1.5 W, which the DO-41 axial-lead package must sink through the lead length and PCB copper. The 3 µA reverse leakage at 200 V is low enough for standby power supplies and offline converters where off-state losses eat into efficiency targets. Junction temperature rating of 175°C (max) gives thermal headroom for high-ambient or confined enclosures, but the DO-41 through-hole package limits the heat path — a heatsink clip or extended PCB trace is needed to stay below Tj(max) at sustained 1.5 A.
