Product details

50 ns trr — the switching edge this diode delivers

The STTH15RQ06W is a 600 V, 15 A fast-recovery diode from STMicroelectronics, part of the ECOPACK® series.

600 V blocking, 15 A forward — the thermal budget

Rated for 600 V DC reverse voltage (Vr max) and 15 A average rectified current (Io), this diode fits 400 V bus rails and PFC output stages with margin. The forward voltage drop is 2.95 V max at 15 A — conduction loss at full load is about 44 W, so the DO-247 tab must be bolted to a heatsink sized for the junction-to-case thermal path. Junction temperature is rated to 175°C max, which allows operation in high-ambient environments such as enclosed power supplies or motor-drive cabinets. Reverse leakage at 600 V is 20 µA — negligible at room temperature but rises with junction temperature; budget for it in the thermal design.

DO-247-2 through-hole — mounting and thermal interface

The DO-247-2 package with straight leads is a through-hole, tab-mount package. The copper tab is the cathode and the primary heat path — it must be soldered or bolted to a heatsink with a thermal interface material. The through-hole leads handle the 15 A continuous current without trace-lift risk, but the PCB pad area under the tab sets the effective RthJA.

Frequently asked questions

What is the reverse recovery time of STTH15RQ06W?

The reverse recovery time (trr) is 50 ns, measured under standard test conditions. This qualifies it as a fast-recovery diode (trr ≤ 500 ns at > 200 mA).
