Why 50 ns trr matters in an automotive fast recovery diode
In a hard-switched PFC stage or traction inverter, that 50 ns trr cuts the recovery charge that the IGBT or SiC MOSFET has to sweep out at turn-on — less overlap loss, lower junction temperature rise in the switch. The 15 A continuous rating is the thermal design target; at 175°C Tj max the forward voltage rises to 2.95 V, so the conduction loss at full load is about 44 W before you factor in the heatsink.
The base product number STTH15 covers a family of 600 V fast recovery diodes; if a different package or current rating is needed, the family shares the same silicon and recovery characteristics.
Sourcing and procurement posture
For a prototype or low-volume run, cut tape (CT) is also listed as an option.
