55 ns reverse recovery — what it buys in a boost stage
The STTH15AC06FP is a 600 V, 15 A fast-recovery diode from STMicroelectronics, built with planar technology and specified with a 55 ns reverse recovery time. That trr figure places it in the standard-recovery class (≤500 ns) but on the fast side of it — useful for continuous-conduction-mode PFC boost stages and output rectification in 300–400 VDC bus converters where reverse-recovery charge directly affects switching loss and EMI.
Forward drop and thermal budget at 15 A
Maximum forward voltage is 1.9 V at 15 A, 25 °C junction. The 2 µA reverse leakage at 600 V is a room-temperature figure; leakage doubles roughly every 10 °C above 25 °C, so the thermal design should budget for higher leakage at elevated junction temperatures.
TO-220FPAC — isolated package, no washer needed
The TO-220-2 Full Pack (ST's TO-220FPAC) is a fully isolated through-hole package. The metal tab is encapsulated, so the diode can be bolted directly to a grounded heatsink without an insulating pad or shoulder washer — saves assembly time and eliminates one thermal interface. The full-pack construction also improves creepage distance for high-voltage designs.
It is ROHS3 compliant.
