32 ns reverse recovery — what it means in a switching supply
The STTH152 is a fast recovery diode with a reverse recovery time (trr) of 32 ns. That sub-50 ns recovery makes it suitable for high-frequency rectification in flyback converters, PFC boost stages, and snubber clamps where stored charge in a standard recovery diode would cause excess dissipation or ringing. At 1.5 A average forward current and 200 V reverse voltage, it fits 48 V to 120 V DC rails with margin.
Through-hole DO-15 axial — legacy footprint, still serviceable
Packaged in a DO-204AC (DO-15) axial-lead through-hole case, the STTH152 is a PTH part suited for point-to-point wiring, terminal block rectifier assemblies, or retrofit into older boards that use axial diodes. Junction temperature rating reaches 175 °C max, which gives margin in high-ambient or poorly ventilated enclosures.
Forward drop and leakage at rated conditions
Forward voltage is specified at 950 mV maximum when forward current is 1.5 A. Reverse leakage is 1.5 µA at the rated 200 V reverse voltage. These numbers are typical for a fast recovery diode in this voltage and current class — the leakage stays low enough to avoid thermal runaway in lightly loaded standby circuits.
