1200 V, 15 A fast recovery diode in D2PAK
The STTH1512G is a general-purpose fast recovery diode rated for 1200 V reverse voltage and 15 A average rectified current, housed in a D2PAK (TO-263) surface-mount package. The 1200 V blocking voltage places it in the high-voltage class for applications like power supply boost stages, PFC circuits, and inverter snubbers where the rail voltage can exceed 600 V. Reverse recovery time is 105 ns, which is fast enough for switching frequencies in the tens of kilohertz without excessive turn-off losses. Forward voltage is 2.1 V at the full 15 A rating — the conduction loss at rated current is about 31.5 W, so the D2PAK's exposed tab must be soldered to a sufficient copper area on the PCB to keep the junction below the 175°C maximum.
Package and mounting — surface-mount D2PAK
The D2PAK (TO-263-3) is a surface-mount package with two leads plus a tab. The tab is the cathode connection and must be soldered to a thermal pad on the PCB — the datasheet's thermal resistance figures assume a minimum copper area. This is not a through-hole part; the board layout must include the pad and adequate clearance for 1200 V creepage. The package is supplied in Tube format. The base product number is STTH1512, and the 'G' suffix indicates ROHS3 compliance — no lead, mercury, cadmium, or other restricted substances per EU directive 2011/65/EU.
