Fast recovery diode for 200 V, 15 A rectification
The STTH1502DI from STMicroelectronics is a general-purpose fast recovery diode rated for 200 V reverse voltage and 15 A average rectified current.
A 36 ns reverse recovery time at 15 A forward current means the diode clears stored charge quickly, reducing turn-off losses and ringing in hard-switched converters. For a 100 kHz boost stage, the recovery charge per cycle stays low enough that the MOSFET or IGBT does not see an excessive current spike during diode turn-off.
Package and mounting — TO-220AC insulated
The TO-220AC insulated package (TO-220-2 with full encapsulation) eliminates the need for an insulating washer between the diode tab and the heatsink. The through-hole mounting suits point-to-point wiring on terminal blocks or PCB mounting with a single screw. The insulated backside simplifies assembly in metal-enclosed power supplies where creepage distance to ground is a concern.
