1000 V, 12 A fast recovery in a full-pack through-hole package
90 ns trr — the switching-speed anchor for the PFC stage
The 90 ns reverse recovery time (trr) is the headline switching parameter. At 12 A forward current and 1000 V blocking voltage, this trr keeps the turn-off losses low enough for continuous-conduction-mode PFC boost stages operating in the 50–100 kHz range.
STMicroelectronics lists the STTH1210FP as obsolete. The base product number is STTH1210, and the TO-220FPAC variant is the full-pack version.
Reverse leakage and temperature margin
Reverse leakage current is specified at 10 µA max at 1000 V reverse voltage. At high junction temperatures — the device is rated to 175 °C — leakage rises exponentially, so the thermal design should keep the junction well below that ceiling under steady-state load to avoid runaway. The 12 A average rectified current is the DC output rating; the actual ripple current capability depends on the heatsink and ambient temperature.
